Safes And Preventing Identity Theft

!±8± Safes And Preventing Identity Theft

Identity is one of the most important things you have, if a thief can get hold of your personal documents they can effectively access everything you are and own. By locking your documents and information in a secure place away from prying eyes you can dramatically lower the chance of someone gaining access to your life and assets.

There are many different places that your documents can be put away but where better than a safe? There are a variety of different safes on the market at different prices all with different advantages and disadvantages.

Safes will have either, if not both, Burglary resistant and Fire resistant features so depending on what is needed from the safe in question determines the type of safe which is best for the job at hand.

Safes come in lots of different sizes and styles ranging from Gun cabinets to Safe cupboards. The volume and value of the items you wish to store inside will influence the choice of safe.

Cupboards and filing cabinets are effective in storing lots of documents and files in an office or business environment as they allow for a large amount of storage space. Using a cupboard or filing cabinet allows for an ever increasing amount of personal or business documents to be stored safely with fire and burglary resistance to ensure all of its contents are in no immediate danger

Eurograde safes are the common idea of a safe, being a reinforced metal box, whilst fire and burglary resistant the space offered is very limited compared to that of a cupboard or filing cabinet but are offered in either a digital electrical lock or a key lock which would improve the safe's security.

Data Safes and Computer security are very effective again in an office or business environment as they offer protection and security if confidential and private documents are housed on data utilities or computer hard drives as they offer specialised housing and security for anything from hard drives to floppy disks with a variety of sizes depending on the amounts of documents needed to keep safe

Deposit safes are usually small safes which are easily concealed and difficult to access without a key. They commonly hold document files in the larger models or money in the smaller models.

When you start to think about the stress, time and money involved with replacing the documents we can't be without, and the heartache of losing the things we can't replace, you start to realise that a one off investment of a few hundred pounds for somewhere safe to store them is not all that much after all.

Home Safes - Jewelers' Quality Safes For Homeowners

!±8± Home Safes - Jewelers' Quality Safes For Homeowners

Home safes are no longer a luxury item just for the rich and famous. The record high price gold has turned even a moderate jewelry collection into a sum of great value. There are many types of home safes available, but there is very little knowledge about the differences among them. Most people think that anything with a lock provides burglary protection, but that is far from accurate. Some safes are designed to only provide fire protection, some to provide only burglary protection, and some to provide both.

A good home safe should provide both burglary and fire protection. It is important to understand that a fire protection safe is very inexpensive. Most safe companies promote fire protection safes because they are cheap, but the unassuming consumer thinks they are purchasing a home safe that provides both fire and burglary protection. This is the most common mistake for buyers of home safes.

A home safe that provides both burglary and fire protection is constructed much differently than a fire safe. It incorporates steel with special composite materials, and has a sophisticated locking system to thwart a forced entry. How these materials are combined, plus the quality of the boltwork determines the level of burglary and fire protection; and these levels can vary tremendously.

The best way to determine the true quality of a home safe is to choose one that has been tested and approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). UL subjects home safes to the same type of rigorous tests given to jewelers' safes. In fact, a jeweler must have a safe that is UL rated in order to qualify for thousands or millions of dollars of insurance coverage. Only a UL rated safe can assure you the same type of protection.

There are different levels of quality among the UL rated burglary safes based on the time necessary to make a forced entry. Most jewelers choose a level based on their inventory value. Likewise, a homeowner can choose a home safe the same way.

A home safe is insurance to protect your most valuable possessions. It is a gamble to purchase one without a UL rating, because you can never be certain of its strength. And, you would have to wonder if a manufacturer is claiming their home safe to be high quality, why wouldn't they simply have it tested by UL?
